South & West Donegal

Not strictly Donegal at all but so close that the pictures overlook the most southern parts of the county. These were taken from a viewpoint above the south shore of Lough Erne in County Fermanagh and look westward towards the sea which on a less hazy day is easily seen.

When conditions are very clear the view stretches to all of Donegal Bay with the south facing coast clearly visible and the cliffs of Slieve League can be seen in the far distance. I have been told that these are the highest sea cliffs in Europe but can't attest to the truth of this. The cliffs are quite spectacular and there is a footpath which winds its way to the summit. Its a great place to watch the seabirds from above as they wheel and glide on the air currents.
