Inishowen & Lough Swilly.

At the far Northern point of Inishowen is Malin Head, the most Northerly point on the island of Ireland. A windswept, treeless place with more rock than soil.

We flew over it and on the headland saw the sign made during WW2 by local people. Allied aircraft (mainly RAF Coastal Command) flying back after anti submarine patrols in the Atlantic would pass over and seeing the sign immediately know where they were. Their base at Ballykelly would have been only a few more minutes flying time away. The sign is made of local white stones.

A few seconds later after turning to follow the coastline to the southeast this was the view out to the west. Malin Cove and the harbour with Glashedy Rock in the centre and Dunaff Head behind. Fanad can be seen in the distance.

And a few seconds later. I like both pics!!
